Welcome to another wonderful year!

The holidays seem to FLY! It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were counting down until Christmas and now we stand at the beginning of another wonderful year. I love this time of year; classrooms have freshly covered walls and resources are sorted into colour-coded boxes. There are some great examples of wonderful classrooms on the I’m a New Teacher Instagram page (follow #classroomshoutout).

Personally, there have been a lot of things happening these school holidays; my wife and I welcomed the birth of a beautiful and healthy baby girl. She is just perfect (I’m sure that all parents say that!).

Before you welcome your students back to school (for many of us that’s tomorrow!) have a think about the following questions:

  • What do you want to get out of 2018?
  • What do you want my students to get out of 2018?
  • How can you strive to be a little better this year?
  • What do you need to stop doing?

I encourage you to write down the responses to these questions. I hope that you have a wonderful start to the year and please take the time to share your teaching journey.
